According to a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich is about to lose FC Bayern II center-back Ljubo Puljić to Atalanta.
Puljić, a Croatia youth international, is a 6’4” (1.94 m) defender, who played 18 total games for the club last season. Puljić made 15 appearances for FC Bayern II in the Regionalliga and played one game each in U19 DFB-Nachwuchsliga – Vorrunde Gruppe E, U19 DFB-Nachwuchsliga – Hauptrunde Liga A, and the UEFA Youth League.
In those appearances, Puljić played
1,292 minutes:
Back in January, Puljić was linked to AC Milan, This is how BFW’s Frank Mo described the defender and why he could be looking to move on:
Puljić is a formidable center-back with the strength, jump and header to boot. He particularly shines while defending his own penalty area, with superb balance, marking and aerial ability marking him as nobody to mess with.
But flaws have emerged as he adjusted to the style played at Bayern. The 18-year-old may shine in the box but he struggles in a high line, given he lacks pace and the right balance of aggression and caution in those advanced positions. Furthermore, his game on the ball is fairly limited. He might be too much of an old school center-back for the modern game.
Puljić’s contract with Bayern Munich ends in 2027.
