The Pittsburgh Pirates are getting the national television treatment as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the third matchup of a four-game set at American Family Field.
The national audience will get a look at Paul Skenes for tonight’s game. Skenes is 9-9 so far this season with a 3.90 ERA, which is sound, but not up to par compared to what he showed in his first two professional campaigns.
Skenes struggled in his last start against the Cincinnati Reds on July 31. He only pitched four innings,
giving up seven hits and five earned runs, as the Bucs lost 8-7 to their division rival. This marks Skenes’ third start against the Brewers so far this season. He beat the Brewers 6-0 in his last start at American Family Field on April 24, pitching seven scoreless innings with one hit. He also pulled out a win when the Brewers came to PNC Park last month. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs in a 14-5 victory at home.
Kyle Harrison is getting the start for the Brewers in his first appearance since July 8. The last time he was on the field, he gave up four hits, three runs, and four innings as the Brewers lost 5-1 to the St. Louis Cardinals.
