The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for their matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. It will be their chance to end a three-game losing streak after starting 3-0.
Michael Mayer will look to duplicate his Week 6 performance. He had a career game last week for the Silver and Black. 95 receiving yards was his highest total since being drafted into the NFL. He has become a vital piece in the passing game.
The Raiders coaching staff is not surprised. Offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko spoke of his value to the
team during his press conference on Thursday.
“Yeah, Mike [Mayer] is a valuable piece to this team because of the person that Mike is,
starting with that. So, you start with an ultimate competitor. You start with somebody that comes to work
each and every single day, and then you take the football skill set and how he has developed as a player,
how he’s developing in a leadership role. He’s going to be a part of our success going forward.”
His stats this season were expected. Janocko loves his work and study habits as Mayer is in the front row during team meetings.
“I think you just watch Mike [Mayer work every single day in everything he does, run
game, pass game protections, and how he takes nothing lightly. Watching Mike, Mike sits in the front row
of the meeting rooms and just watching him take note and how he pays attention, and then it applies on
the field. It’s just that’s what you look for in a consummate pro.“
Raider Nation should expect Mayer to keep producing in this offense. If teams try to take away Bowers, Mayer’s production will keep rising.
