Bayern Munich legend and current member of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge talked to AS and shared his thoughts about Real Madrid as the two European giants prepare to meet in the Champions League Quarterfinals.
“Bayern-Madrid is the most anticipated match of this era. In the 2000s we were the ones who made things tougher for Madrid, and in recent years they were the ones doing the damage. From us being their black beast to them being the white beast. They have won five Champions Leagues a decade,
no further explanation is needed,” he said.
Rummenigge talked about Xabi Alonso’s departure and Arbeloa’s presence.
“I felt for Alonso, but when performance fall short of expectations the solution is usually a change of manager. Arbeloa has found the right formula again and the team is back to performing at its best,” he explained.
He also shared his thoughts on Vinicius.
“Would Viní fit in at Bayern? The question is pointless given that he’s priceless and already plays for his favorite club. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were one of Florentino’s favorite players. I’ve heard that clubs in Saudi Arabia are knocking on the door, but I don’t think he’ll end up leaving. Florentino is a true football expert and will do everything he can to keep him. I remember his brace in the first leg two years ago,” he added.
