The Guardians suffered their most embarrassing loss last night, featuring listless effort and a public confrontation in the dugout between their manager and their “ace.” But, don’t expect to see any bold moves from the front office today in response. I guess I just need to remind myself that this game’s hard on people. You can’t stop what’s coming. It ain’t all waiting on you. That’s vanity.
I will admit it was at least refereshing to hear Stephen Vogt admit that everyone is frustrated and emotions
are high. While I understand why Tanner Bibee – given his poor performance this season – can’t just yell at his teammates and that’s why Vogt confronted him, it was nice to see that Bibee cared because it just doesn’t seem like the team cares much. Tim Stebbins wrote about the fiasco here and Zack Meisel (who asked the pointed questions about the dugout kerfuffle in the postgame) wrote about it here.
Adding to my frustration, it seems to be impossible to find the information on what the record is for Cleveland baseball scoreless innings, at least without paying for Stathead. So, I don’t even know how close they are to setting a record in offensive futility. All I know is it’s a mess, ain’t it, Sheriff?
FanGraphs has an update on current infielders’ Hall of Fame chances and Jose Ramirez is looking solid. So, please, Jose, pull out of the funk you’re in and push these numbers up a little. And, help us not set any sort of scoreless innings record. I know when we get out of this bad stretch, whenever we get there, Jose will be there
Twitter user Grant Puskar had a great interview with Chase DeLauter who says he should be playing in games this week. When it comes to injuries, Chase can take all comers
Woke up to see the man who taught me to love Cleveland baseball posting on Facebook that he’s come to the conclusion that he’ll never see a World Series title in his lifetime. I always figured when I got older, a World Series title would sorta come into my life somehow. And it didn’t. I don’t blame it. If I was a World Series title, I would have the same opinion of me that it does.
