Welcome to The Linc, the daily Philadelphia Eagles links roundup at Bleeding Green Nation!
Whereas I felt like the onus was on the Eagles’ defense entering Week 3 against the Chicago Bears (and Vic Fangio’s group certainly failed that test), I feel like Week 4 is on Nick Sirianni. It’s important to see how the Eagles respond to their Monday night loss. On paper, they’re not in a great spot. The Rams are a tough opponent. The Eagles are going to be missing some key players. But this is a situation
where the head coach needs to get his team to rally. I’m not even suggesting that the Eagles MUST win this game. But it will be disheartening if they’re not more competitive than they were against the Bears.
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Glass Half Full – Iggles Blitz
The NFC East isn’t loaded right now. Dallas has a terrific offense, but their defense remains a work in progress. Trading for CB Joey Porte Jr should help, but it won’t solve all their problems. Jameis Winston has struggled since taking over for Jaxson Dart in NY. Injuries are hurting that team. Washington has played better than anyone expected, but they lack talent and you just can’t trust them. This season can get turned around if Nick Sirianni has the right messaging and can push the right buttons. I believe the biggest problems are intangibles and those can usually be fixed. I’m not ignoring the tangible issues (poor safety play for instnace), but all 32 teams have weak spots. The Eagles can turn things around quickly if Sirianni can get this team to play smarter and tougher. The Eagles don’t have to win on Sunday to give me hope. I need to see them play good football. If the Rams happen to make an extra play or two and win, so be it. I just need to see major improvement from the Birds. That would help me to believe in them going forward.
Eagles-Rams Game Preview: 5 questions and answers with the Week 4 enemy – BGN
After two weeks on the road, the Philadelphia Eagles are returning to Lincoln Financial Field to host a familiar enemy: the Los Angeles Rams. In order to preview this Week 4 matchup, I reached out to our enemies over at Turf Show Times. The excellent Evan Craig kindly took the time took the time to answer my questions about this upcoming battle. Let’s take a look at the answers.
NFC East Mixtape Vol. 194: Week 4 Preview, Cowboys get Joey Porter Jr. – NFC East Mixtape YouTube Channel
A new week is upon us in the NFC East and we have four games to rip through to prepare for it! The Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams and dropping a second straight game would certainly not be ideal. Meanwhile, the New York Giants will play the Arizona Cardinals in JJ McCarthy’s first game with the team. The Washington Commanders are across the pond in London to play the Indianapolis Colts and try to build on last week’s momentum. Stateside the Dallas Cowboys have a Texas State matchup against the Houston Texans and will take them on with a new player on the team as they just traded for Joey Porter Jr. on Wednesday night. RJ Ochoa and Brandon Lee Gowton discuss it all! You can see that we have a BRAND NEW NFC East Mixtape YouTube Channel so make sure to subscribe as the show will live here exclusively in video format. 5Qs, 5As with Bleeding Green Nation: How is Jalen Hurts faring with yet another new OC? – Turf Show Times
The Los Angeles Rams take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 for the fourth straight season. Los Angeles is searching not only for its first win over the Eagles since the 2020 campaign, but also for its first win over Philly with Nick Sirianni at the helm. Ahead of an important matchup between NFC contenders who suffered bad losses last week, I spoke with Brandon Gowton from Bleeding Green Nation to get the inside scoop on Jalen Hurts working with yet another new offensive coordinator, Vic Fangio’s defense and more.
NFL Expert Picks for Week 4 – SB Nation
The one game to really circle: Rams vs. Eagles. Here are two teams assumed to be the top of the NFC, but both have struggled to start the season and find themselves in need of a win. It’s seeming like one of these teams is going to miss expecations this season, and this game could definine that.
If Zack Baun misses Week 4? ‘Trot was born ready’ – NBCSP
With All-Pro Zack Baun likely sidelined with a concussion for Sunday’s game against the Rams, the Eagles are expected to turn to Jeremiah Trotter Jr. How ready is the young Axe Man? “Trot was born ready,” fellow linebacker Jihaad Campbell said. “Whether he’s got to play or not, at the end of the day, he always practices like a pro, he always takes notes and studies like a pro. He’ll be fine.” Trotter, 23, has technically started two NFL games before but both of those had little actual meaning. He started in Week 18 against the Giants in 2024 and Week 18 against the Commanders in 2025. This situation is a little bit different. The Eagles on Sunday afternoon are facing a desperate Rams team that has put up 480+ yards of offense in back-to-back weeks and are led by Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, Puka Nacua and more — not to mention an offense that uses a ton of eye candy to constantly put linebackers in conflict. It’s not going to be easy on Sunday.
NFL Week 4 picks: Upset and score predictions, matchup breakdowns for every game – NFL.com
Why Gennaro picked the Eagles: Last Sunday night, Los Angeles blew a 16-0 halftime lead at Denver to drop back below .500 in a season that began with the Rams as prohibitive Super Bowl favorites. One night later, Philadelphia was blown out of Chicago by a Bears team that was forced to give Case Keenum his first start in 1,009 days. So, after a pair of nationally televised debacles, who’s in better position to bounce back? Well, the expected return of star WR Puka Nacua is certainly a boon to Sean McVay’s squad. But can the Rams coach exorcise his demons against the Eagles? McVay is 1-6 vs. Philadelphia, having dropped all four matchups against Nick Sirianni. Last season’s loss at Lincoln Financial Field was particularly painful: Not only did the Rams blow a 19-point third-quarter lead, but they had two fourth-quarter field goal attempts blocked, including a would-be game-winner from 44 yards out on the last snap of the contest. In addition to swatting that final kick, hulking DT Jordan Davis memorably scooped up the ball and galloped for an exclamation-point touchdown. But the big man’s triumphant rumble was easily the Eagles’ best run of the day, as the Rams held Saquon Barkley to just 55 total yards on 22 touches. That was a huge departure from Barkley’s previous two games against L.A., when he piled up 534(!) scrimmage yards. Philly’s had trouble getting a consistent ground attack going under new OC Sean Mannion, but Barkley did enjoy success against Chicago this past Monday night before the game got out of hand, potentially signaling a schematic breakthrough. In a matchup between two established powers that have yet to play up to their talent level this season, I’m far from bullish on the Eagles. But I anticipate Sirianni will rally the troops once again versus McVay, with the Birds feeling disrespected as home underdogs.
Bowen: Hey, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but things aren’t going great for the Eagles. Just FYI – PHLY Eagles
Mannion is in just the third season of his coaching career. He was asked Thursday evening about second-half adjustments. “We get together as a staff, and we talk about the different looks that we’ve seen throughout the game, and basically try to chart a course for the second half,” Mannion said. He spoke of how coaches would say, “Hey, I want to get to this, I want to get to this.” He did not say anything about countering the opponent’s adjustments to what you are doing. Seems like they might want to discuss that, as well. Is this season – the last with Lane Johnson, apparently – going to end up being just a big “learning experience” for everyone? Growth toward some distant goal? That doesn’t suit where I think this roster is, overall. It certainly doesn’t suit where I think the fan base’s expectations are. If there is hope for Super Bowl contention in 2026, I’ll be surprised if it manifests itself against the Rams. Or even against the Jaguars in London, a week later. I think the patience of Eagles Nation is about to be tested. Severely.
NFL Week 4 preview: Picks, predictions, schedule, betting odds, fantasy tips – ESPN
Fantasy nugget: Eagles RB Saquon Barkley has been held under 10 fantasy points in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. He also has yet to surpass 15 rushing attempts in a game. The Rams’ defensive front ranks eighth in run stop win rate, so this could be another tough matchup for the Eagles’ offensive line and running game.
Kenny Moore II went from unsigned to teaching 8th grade. Now he has another NFL chance – The Athletic
Moore, a veteran defensive back and former Pro Bowler, started the football season teaching eighth-graders in Indianapolis. He missed training camp for the first time in a decade. Week 1 commenced with Moore still unsigned. Moore experienced the football player’s version of civilian life for the first time, complete with the emotions and vulnerabilities that come with it. While he waited to join a team, he taught a course on life and soft-skill development on Mondays. He played in a soccer league on Tuesday nights. He took photographs. He scrapbooked. The Eagles signed Moore to the practice squad last week. They elevated him to the 53-man roster this week. He could play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. It’s the end of what he described as a “roller-coaster” offseason. And it’s also part of a lesson plan that “Mr. Kenny” could use himself. “This past offseason, yes, it was abnormal, but it was still my favorite one,” Moore said. “It was still my best offseason.”
Rams vs. Eagles By the Numbers – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
In three games against the Rams as an Eagle, Saquon Barkley has posted 506 rushing yards (7.2 yards per carry) and four touchdowns. Barkley rushed for a franchise single-game record 255 yards in the 2024 regular-season matchup with the Rams. Barkley rushed for a franchise playoff single-game record 205 yards in the 2024 NFC Divisional Round win over the Rams.
The Eagles will provide details on sweeping tailgating changes today. Here’s what we know so far. – Inquirer
The Eagles are searching for ways to get back into the win column on Sunday when they take on the Los Angeles Rams, but there will be big things happening outside of Lincoln Financial Field as well. New guidelines for oversized vehicles from the Sports Complex Parking Venture are being implemented starting Sunday, changing the way Philly fans have tailgated for years. The organization, in partnership with the Eagles, is expected to hold a press conference on Friday morning to detail why the changes are being made. In advance of all that, here’s what to know about modifications coming to the South Philadelphia Sports Complex parking areas for Eagles home games.

Darren Rizzi: Special teams coaches want NFL to change rule for holders on kickoffs – PFT
Broncos special teams coach Darren Rizzi says his colleagues around the league almost all agree that holders should be allowed on kickoffs only if the wind is blowing the ball off the tee, and not to give the kicking team an advantage by placing the ball at an unusual angle. Under the NFL’s dynamic kickoff rule, a 12th player can take the field as a holder on kickoffs, with our without the use of a tee, as long as the holder runs off the field immediately after the ball is kicked. Rizzi says the intent of the rule was to allow the kicking team to ensure the ball would stay in the tee on windy days, but the Eagles gained attention in Week 2 for using a holder just to hold the ball on the ground at an odd angle, which changes the trajectory of the kick and makes it harder to return.
Steelers makes roster moves ahead of Browns game – Steelers.com
The former Eagles running back logged one carry for zero yards on Thursday night. It was his first career NFL regular season touch.
Lew Nichols was also elevated the Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Nichols spent the 2025 season on the Steelers practice squad and was signed to a Reserve/Future contract at the end of the 2025 season. Nichols was elevated for the Steelers-Colts game in Week 9, playing on special teams. Nichols was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, spending most of the season on the Reserve/Injured List. He has since spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.
Andrew Thomas misses second straight NY Giants practice – Big Blue View
New York Giants star left tackle Andrew Thomas missed his second straight practice on Thursday with a groin injury. Whether or not that is a cause to worry about his availability for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals in uncertain. The veteran left tackle suffered the groin injury in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams, but played the entire game in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. Thomas, who has suffered a series of leg and foot injuries throughout his career, has been on the team’s injury report for every game this season. He has, though, been on the field for all of the team’s 191 offensive snaps.
Cowboys injury report: Shavon Revel, DeMarvion Overshown DNP – Blogging The Boys
No surprise, Cobie Durant (hamstring) did not practice today. DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring) also did not practice. Although not definitive, two DNPs practices to start the week are never a good sign. Shavon Revel (knee) logged a DNP while Malik Hooker (forearm) was limited.
Commanders vs. Colts Thursday injury report: Chig Okonkwo nearing return – Hogs Haven
A pair of key Commanders are inching ever closer to a return to action after Week 1 injuries. Tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) and linebacker Frankie Luvu (groin) were limited for a second straight day on Thursday, which was also set to be the most physical session of the week. That would be huge in both instances, especially at linebacker. The Commanders have lost Leo Chenal for the season and Jordan Magee is on injured reserve. Running back Rachaad White (shoulder) missed practice for a second-straight day, putting his availability for Sunday’s game in London in some doubt. Quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) practiced on a limited basis for a second straight day, creating an opportunity for him to play in Week 4 or just beyond that.
