According to a report from ESPN Deportes (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Real Madrid took a look at making a move for Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano.
That would not qualify as anything new, as we
have heard of Real Madrid’s interest in Upamecano for months now. However, what is interesting is that “sources” within Real Madrid have now reportedly ruled out a move:
Real Madrid have explored the possibility of signing Dayot Upamecano on a free transfer, but sources at the Spanish club have told @ESPNDeportes that a potential move is now practically ruled out.
Did Real Madrid — allegedly — take itself out of the race because Upamecano’s demands were too…comprehensive? Or, did the Spanish powerhouse get word that Upamecano is close to re-upping with Bayern Munich?
It would be great to know one way or the other, but if this report is true, it would mean that Paris Saint-Germain could be the last man standing in terms of outside clubs seeking to get Upamecano.
