The New York Giants’ opponent this week, the New Orleans Saints, are under pressure from ownership after a disappointing 1-4 start to the 2026 NFL season. Owner Gayle Benson ratcheted up the heat on Tuesday.
“I will not make excuses, and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard,” Benson said Tuesday at the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club. “I am committed to making the decisions necessary to improve this team. Everyone in this organization understands the urgency. We must prepare
better, execute consistently and correct the mistakes that are costing us the games.
“Words will not restore our fans’ confidence. Our performance must do better.”
The Saints have lost three games to the Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and Minnesota Vikings. New Orleans’ five opponents this season have a combined 17-8 record, a .680 winning percentage. They lost to the Vikings on Sunday, 23-13.
Kellen Moore is in his second season as the Saints’ head coach. Mickey Loomis has been general manager since 2002. Benson name-dropped both during her rant.
“Kellen Moore and his coaches are responsible for preparing our players to perform,” she said. “Mickey Loomis and our football staff are responsible for building a roster capable of sustained success. Our players are responsible for their preparation and execution. I am responsible for holding this organization accountable.”
The Saints, thus, come to MetLife Stadium on Sunday knowing that if things don’t change on the field their owner will take matters into her own hands.
“There’s a great deal of football ahead of us, but our response must show up on the field,” Benson said.
