There was a bright spot Saturday night in Lexington, even though the Kentucky Wildcats, once again, struggled mightily against an SEC foe. This time, it was against the Tennessee Volunteers.
However, quarterback
Cutter Boley continues to prove himself that he is the guy for Kentucky, tossing five touchdowns vs. the Vols, a UK freshman record and the most since Andre Woodson’s six vs. Tennessee in five overtimes in 2007. He completed 26/35 passes for 330 yards and five scores vs. one turnover.
It’s quite impressive what he’s doing. You just hope the Wildcats can get the right people around him so he can continue to ascend and become one of the SEC’s best quarterbacks. When you have the quarterback in place, that’s always a great head start. It makes fans believe that anything is possible.
Since Boley has taken over as the full-time starter, he has more than held his own. Prior to tonight, he had 885 passing yards through four starts. That’s well over 200 yards per start, which is pretty good considering what’s going on surrounding this program.
The potential with Boley is absolutely there. Again, you just hope the Wildcats’ program gives him what he needs to prosper.
