Barcelona have four players at risk of missing the second leg of their tie against Newcastle heading into the first leg at St James’ Park on Tuesday night.
Lamine Yamal, Marc Casado, Gerard Martin and Fermin Lopez all face sitting out the return at Camp Nou if they are booked against the Magpies.
Hansi Flick is expected to start Yamal and Martin at St James’ Park, while Fermin could also get the nod. Casado started at the weekend against Athletic Club but is likely to drop back down to the bench.
Barcelona
will also head into the match without some key players due to injury. Frenkie de Jong, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde have all picked up hamstring injuries recently and miss out.
The trio join long-term absentee Andreas Christensen on the sidelines, although Gavi has been included in the travelling squad for the match.
The midfielder hasn’t yet been given the green light to return, meaning he won’t feature, but he is closing in on his long-awaited return from knee surgery.
