During a chat with the Battleground podcast, Tiffany Stratton was asked about a piece of feedback she hated hearing at the time but later realized was right. Her response was interesting:
“I just think like finding a way to kind of just blend who you are in real life and the character you play. I felt like I always wanted to just play a character and not be anything like who I am in real life. And then slowly but surely I kind of realized, like, oh, people can connect more to something that feels
a little bit more real. And I feel like wrestling slowly has become that in the past couple of years, where people aren’t really playing characters anymore. It’s just kind of an extended version of themselves on steroids. So I wouldn’t say that was a hard pill for me to swallow. I just think I’ve just realized it more and more, and I’ve gotten better at kind of blending my two… the Jessica and the Tiffany. And I feel like once I turn heel, it’s gonna be like me on steroids, and it’s gonna be so much… it’s gonna be different, and I’m excited.”
She obviously doesn’t actually mean she’s going to get on gear and start going ham on people, but rather she’s just going to turn her personality up to 11. That is, of course, a formula we’ve seen used to great success with some of the biggest stars in the history of the industry. Stratton seems to have finally accepted as much and is champing at the bit to see how she can do as a larger than life version of herself.
