Indiana fans believe the Hoosiers should lean on the run game on the road against Maryland today at SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland, according to the results of a Reacts survey we published ahead
of the matchup:
There’s a bit of an extra wrinkle to this one. Roman Hemby, the Hoosiers’ starter at running back, transferred to the program this past offseason after several productive seasons with the Terrapins. Maryland head coach Mike Lockley commented on this during an interview with 106.7 The Fan this past week, including fellow former Terp and current Hoosier Kellan Wyatt, who’s sidelined with an injury for the remainder of the season.
“They’ve got two guys that started for me a year ago that I would have had to make to make a decision on whether I overpay for them because, you know, the market demanded it,” Locksley said. “We had to make tough decisions on guys like Roman Hemby and Kellan Wyatt.”
Hemby may be a bit more motivated to perform against his old program. One way or another, it’s a return and Homecoming for Hemby, who committed to Maryland after starring for The John Carroll School in Bel Air, Maryland, in high school.
