Along with noting the departures from the ranks of active pro wrestlers — like John Cena and Hiroshi Tananhashi ending their legendary pro wrestling careers on either side of New Year’s, and AJ Styles’
retiring from WWE just last Saturday — there’s been a bit of a focus on who might come back to the ring. With the event in Saudi Arabia this year, I guess we also needed somewhere to put the speculative energy we usually would have spent on Royal Rumble returns.
Anyway… WWE Hall of Famer Lita recently spoke to The Toronto Sun’s No Holds Barred show and wouldn’t rule out a comeback. The reason why has people talking.
Lita’s last match was in a Trios match at 2023’s WrestleMania 39. She teamed with Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch to defeat Damage CTRL’s Bayley, IYO SKY, and Dakota Kai. She was written out by a backstage/attack injury angle a week later and wasn’t seen again.
That’s the part of her last run that, understandably, wasn’t satisfying for Lita:
“It was a little weird the way it ended. I had this really fun, celebratory match at WrestleMania, and then the next thing I know they’re like, ‘Oh, by the way, you’re just going to be laying on the ground and we don’t need you anymore.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’
“It felt complete, and then it didn’t, just the way things kind of ended.“
“Am I still satisfied with all I’ve accomplished, and even the stuff I’ve been able to do post full-time run? Absolutely. But yeah, I wouldn’t rule it out if the right opportunity came because I still feel really good, and there’s so much talent out there. It’s always fun to mix it up with the current roster.”
She wasn’t peak Xtreme of course, but Lita did well at ‘Mania while working with some of the best in the business. She’s a few years older now though, but it sounds like she thinks she can still hang. And that theme song and entrance will always get a pop.
What say you, Cagesiders? Should Lita get one more run, sans weird ending this time?
