How’d We Do Last Week?
As a refresher, each week I will feature the Most Accurate, Most interesting, and Most Wildly Inaccurate takes. Let’s get to it!
Most Wildly Inaccurate
Welp, Williams did not seize the RB1 job and had a pretty poor game. I’m also going to throw a challenge flag on him being one of the fastest ND players. Personally, I still believe in Williams, just not at RB1. He can and should be a great change of pace + third down back in this offense.
Most Interesting
If you highlight Ollie the Weatherman, I am probably going to feature you. This just
made me laugh immediatley. Well done.
Most Accurate
This was a bit of a double shot….He called out my take of Cam Edwards and brought the facts. Edwards finished with 12 rushes for a whopping 38 yards. JDrive nailed that our run defense is elite…….and confirmed that yes, we can stop the run. Well done!

Cold Take
Nolan James Jr gets 150+ All Purpose Yards
James is going to be RB1 in this game, and the Irish will go to him early and often. Specifically, I think he is going to break a long screen pass for a touchdown. Mike Denbrock is always good for an elite screen call at some point, and I think he deploys it in the first quarter. Look for a delayed rollout by Carr, only for him to throw back to James with a caravan of blockers in front of him. James weaves his way through traffic for a 40-plus-yard score. It will be very interesting to see how the offense looks with James as a key part of the opening script. He has flashed a LOT of “Kyren” like skills so far. I also hope to see the other backs get into the mix and FINALLY deliver the 20-plus-yard run everyone has been waiting for.
Hot Take
Rodney Dunham Gets 2 Sacks
Dunham is a five-star talent and a future stud for the Irish. He has flashed on nearly every play he has been on the field so far. Purdue is going to throw the ball a lot in this game, and Freeman will want to get guys like Loghan Thomas and Dunham going as pass-rush specialists. Dunham will take advantage of the opportunity and get to Ryan Browne multiple times in this game. The Purdue offense won’t be able to key on him, as much of its focus will be on stopping Traore, leaving Dunham with plenty of one-on-one matchups and opportunities to use his speed rush. Don’t sleep on Browne, though – he will be one of the better quarterbacks the Irish face this season.
