According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER), Vincent Kompany has marked July 20th as the return date for the squad to start preparations for the 2026/27 season:
Vincent Kompany has scheduled the training start for July 20. The non-internationals do receive individual training plans from the club to maintain their fitness, but during the World Cup, they can also do that in the sun and on vacation.
In addition, injured stars like Serge Gnabry will be on separate programs for the
summer and will be required to show face at at Säbener Straße for progress reports:
Serge Gnabry (adductor tear in his right thigh) must also continue working on his comeback and will therefore be at Säbener Straße from time to time—for rehab training in the fitness room and for treatment with the physios.
It remains to be seen how much extra time World Cup participants get off. In 2018, many were excused from the summer tour. In 2022, there was an extended break for World Cup players as well. With the squad expected to have a heavy travel schedule in Asia (games in South Korea and Hong Kong), Kompany could opt for a similar plan for any internationals, who advance deep into the tourney.
