The first visual renderings for UFC’s upcoming White House card now expected in June of next year have been released and it straight up looks like a dream.
As you may know, UFC CEO Dana White has partnered with President of the United States Donald Trump to plan the most epic combat sporting event of all time. They will host a UFC event LIVE on the White House lawn next year to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.
Fight fans thought the early rumors of the event were, well, rumors.
But once Trump confirmed the plans and White started to share information about the event this entire thing took on a life of its own. A long list of UFC superstars immediately came out of the woodwork to try to land a spot on next year’s card and fight fans started to ask every question that popped into their heads.
On Friday, White revealed even more information about UFC’s upcoming White House event in an appearance on FOX News Channel’s Special Report with Bret Baier. White also shared a collection of stunning renderings of what UFC and Trump have planned. Some of the photos don’t even look real, but according to White everything is expected to be constructed over the next nine months.
“Well, we’re still playing with that,” said White when asked how many people he plans to host at the one-of-one event. “It’s going to be under 5,000 people. You know, it depends on — on how much the lawn can hold. You know, as far as weight, the octagon itself weighs 15,000 pounds. So we don’t know. We’re still working it out. And — and my vision for this thing is we have this big arch, as you can see, with the lighting grid. Because what I want is the White House in the back. And then when you shoot — when the fight goes around to the other side, you’ll see the Washington Monument in the background…Yeah, we can fit 85,000 people over there. We’re going to have a stage where music — you know, we’ll have bands playing all day. And then people will be able to bring blankets and, you know, lay around and watch the fights. We’ll have — we’ll have screens up everywhere for everybody. We’re literally going to take over Washington, D.C., that week. We’re going to do the weigh-ins there. We’re going to have…That’s what we’re talking about, yeah. And — and we’ll have fan events all week. We’re going to do our expo there. And just a total Washington, D.C., takeover.”
