After a 14-yard, Jacory Barney punt return, the Huskers drove 48 yards for a touchdown with Emmett and Dylan combining for 30 of those by ground and Johnson punching it in from the 2 for a 7-0 lead. A Michigan
State three-and-out then followed. Jamir Conn crashed through the blockers to block the ensuing Michigan State punt and flatten the punter. Carter Nelson then found himself alone with the football near the goal line and picked it up for the touchdown and a 14-0 Husker lead.
This concludes the first half highlight for the Nebraska offense which finished with 54 yards. Raiola was 5-7 for 24 yards, but again spent most of his dropbacks running for his life, as the offensive line appeared once again incapable of pass blocking unless the wind can be blamed for failing to slow Sparty defenders.
The Spartans managed a 17-play touchdown drive aided by two pass interference flags on separate 3rd downs inside the 10, but managed only to lose 2 yards on all their other drives combined. They totalled only 35 total rush yards, so they can be graded as improved for now.
The score is Nebraska 14 Michigan St. 7.
The 2nd half game thread starts in the comments which be more interesting than anything we saw from either offense in the 2nd quarter.
