Another priority on the contract extension front for Juventus has officially been checked off the list.
First it was Kenan Yildiz and his big pay day that cemented himself as the centerpiece of Juve’s future. Then it was Weston McKennie and his Harry Potter celebration getting some long-term security at long last. Then it was the manager himself, Liciano Spalletti, who finally signed the contract extension we all expected him to last week.
Now, it’s time for Juventus’ captain to be the next one to extend
his contract in Turin.
That day came on Friday when Juve announced that Manuel Locatelli has signed a contract extension through 2030 that will see the 28-year-old Italian midfielder get a sizable raise as part of his new deal. It is the latest sign of Juventus’ front office locking in some of their most important pieces into long-term deals that run into the new decade — and Locatelli is proving to be a key component of that as he continues to play some of his best ball during his time with the Bianconeri under the same manager who just signed his own contract extension, albeit “only” through 2028 a week ago.
Locatelli’s previous deal ran through 2028, with his salary set to go up to around €4 million with his new contract being signed.
Here is part of the announcement on Juventus’ official website:
The story between Manuel Locatelli and Juventus has been extended under the banner of continuity, belonging, and responsibility: the contract renewal of the 1998-born midfielder is now official, and he will remain with Juventus until June 30, 2030.
“Juventus has always been my childhood dream. My family are all Juventus fans; we’ve always been Bianconeri. For me, being here is a double thrill because I’m joining a very strong and important club.” These were Locatelli’s words at the end of August 2021 —excited and determined—at his first press conference as a Juventus player.
Since that day, Manuel has come a long way, immediately managing to earn playing time and trust, becoming a key figure both on and off the pitch. Today, with 224 appearances, 9 goals, and 17 assists, his journey speaks of constant growth, poise, and total dedication to the cause.
His connection with our colours extends beyond the pitch. A Juventus fan since childhood, now captain, Manuel has always viewed Juventus as a dream to be achieved and defended, turning every training session and every match into an opportunity to demonstrate his dedication.
Locatelli originally signed with Juventus after roughly 1,200 meetings with Sassuolo in the summer of 2021 and has been a central piece of the Juventus midfield ever since. Earlier this season, he surpassed the 200-appearance mark with Juventus, with all but 30 of those being in the starting lineup. This season, he has put up some of the best numbers of his career — especially so under Spalletti, a manager who had previously didn’t select him to be a part of Italy’s Euro 2024 squad two summers ago.
But while so much has been chaotic around Locatelli as a result of Juventus’ inconsistent ways the last few years, he has brought plenty of strong performances. Just like last season, Locatelli is amongst Juventus’ leaders in minutes played during the 2025-26 campaign. He has played at least 3,000 minutes in each of his five seasons in Turin.
With his new deal, Locatelli is now fully entrenched at Juventus — even more than he already was. With the captain’s armband strapped to his arm, Locatelli will continue to be looked upon to be one of the main players to lead Juventus into the future. Let’s just hope he continues to play like he has for a large portion of the time under Spalletti as the months go on in 2026 and beyond.
