The Los Angeles Rams will be without tight end Colby Parkinson (ribs) for Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, as the veteran has been ruled inactive after appearing on the injury report as questionable.
Parkinson’s absence comes after a physically demanding Week 7 performance against the Las Vegas Raiders,
in which he battled through multiple injuries but continued returning to the field each time. Despite the setbacks, Parkinson showed a willingness to push through discomfort and remain available for the Rams’ offense. However, the injuries appear to have caught up with him heading into the Battle of Los Angeles. After being listed as questionable during the week, Parkinson ultimately will be unable to suit up against the Chargers.
The tight end’s absence is another challenge for a Rams offense looking to maintain its momentum against an AFC West opponent. Parkinson has provided valuable depth at the position, particularly as a blocker in the team’s efforts to establish a consistent running game. Without him, Los Angeles will need its remaining tight ends to absorb additional snaps and help fill the void in both the passing game and run-blocking assignments.
Parkinson’s availability will be worth monitoring beyond Sunday’s matchup, especially given the physical toll he endured in the previous game. The Rams will hope the extra time away from the field allows him to recover and return to the lineup as soon as possible.
For now, his absence is official, leaving the Rams without one of their key tight end options for a divisional-style showdown against their crosstown rivals.
Max Klare, the team’s #5 TE will be in uniform and is will be called upon in case of another injury to the tight end room.
Players that missed Week 7 due to injury but are suited up for Week 8 include Nate Landman and Trent McDuffie. The Rams defense moves one step closer to being at full strength as the team awaits more clarity on Myles Garrett.
