Here we go!
The Cincinnati Reds are fresh off taking two of three on the road in Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies, a feat that (at this stage of the season) still somehow feels like merely treading water. With just two weeks to go before the trade deadline, the Reds are in floor it mode if they’re to claw their way back into a chase for a Wild Card spot, and next up on the docket are the formidable Seattle Mariners.
We’ve got more Late Night Reds for the week!
Monday’s series opener will feature
southpaw Andrew Abbott on the mound for the Reds. He hiccuped a bit in his final start before the All Star break (4 ER in 4.0 IP against the Chicago Cubs), but dating back to the final day of April he’s the owner of a 3.18 ERA across 76.1 IP (14 starts). If the Reds can get that kind of outing from him in this one, perhaps they’ll stand a chance against M’s starter George Kirby.
Kirby’s track record is an impressive one, but he’s been attainable of late. Over his last 9 starts dating back to May 17th, he’s pitched to a 4.75 ERA across 53.0 IP, and the 121 hits he’s allowed so far this season were the most in the American League entering play today.
First pitch is set for 9:40 PM ET. Here’s how both clubs will line up to begin!
