Head coach Sean Payton will welcome back his team for the official start to the 2026 season today as training camp gets underway this week.
And according to a fun but ridiculous Rotowire survey of fans and social media reactions, the head coach welcoming back his team is among the most hated in the NFL.
No wait. By this measure, Payton is the most hated coach in the NFL.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha.
Good.
Fans hate coaches who consistently beat their favorite teams. Having the most hated coach means Payton
and the Broncos are beating a lot of teams. And probably doing it in the fourth quarter after a comeback, crushing their fans’ souls over and over.
One guy who helped Payton do that for years with the New Orleans Saints will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Aug. 8, and he highlighted just why Payton remains one of those hated coaches — he knows how to win by developing his QBs.
All I know is that since Payton became head coach, I have looked forward to each season more and more.
So bring on the haters; we’re doing something right.
