Leon Goretzka is leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season and there are still key contract decisions that need to be made with players like Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich, Harry Kane, and Raphaël Guerreiro, but the club is still keeping a close eye on the transfer market. The front office and supervisory board have recently come out and explained how they plan to be careful and calculated in the coming transfer windows, but that won’t prevent them from keeping their eyes and ears open to opportunities
that present themselves, either expensive or cut-rate.
As such, along with several other big clubs in Europe, Bayern have maintained interest in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, who has enjoyed a strong individual campaign with Die Roten Bullen and shone quite well for himself with the Ivory Coast national team at the African Cup of Nations in Morocco. For Leipzig so far this season, he’s bagged eleven goals and eight assists from a total of twenty-nine appearances across all competitions and is currently valuated at 75-million euros.
Per information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia), both Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain are still tracking Diomande and have made their “checks” on the player and his situation at Leipzig. Romano also adds that, despite the Ivorian’s steep valuation, to not completely rule out either Bayern or PSG in the pursuit of the winger, as either club could wind up really going all out for him and could have more leverage than some of the interested clubs in the Premier League in England. It’s known that both Liverpool and Manchester United have both expressed interest in the 19-year old.
With a current valuation of 75-million euros, Romano would also expect Leipzig’s asking price for Diomande to be a hefty one, though they have not yet named an official asking price. From within the club, they’ll be well aware of the heavy interest in the player from both within Germany and abroad, and for Bayern, there would be the small matter of getting over the hurdle of Leipzig having to sell to a Bundesliga rival. It’s been done before a la Marcel Sabitzer, Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, and even Julian Nagelsmann, but Leipzig could easily drive up their asking price if they decide to eventually open up negotiations with the German Rekordmeister.
