I like Isidor a lot. Sometimes you catch a player up close, executing a superb piece of skill, and I’ve seen that many times with Wilson.
He’s a bright talent and his speed isn’t often talked about either — he’s like a gazelle and I’d love to know what his flat 100 metre time is. In my eyes, he’s the fastest player on our books.
I’ve also watched his runs, trying to create space up front.
More often than not, the defence or midfielders don’t see those runs, but thank goodness for teammates like Enzo
Le Fée that’ve picked him out occasionally. Then there was that Robin Roefs clearance against Liverpool at Anfield that nearly got us the winner. Isidor is always on the lookout for that clinical pass, and he has a talent for the unexpected.
I suspect Régis Le Bris and the team have promised him more minutes, especially perhaps in Europe. But as the head coach intimated a few weeks ago, where else can he go when he’s already at a Premier League club that is in European competition, and is one of their two top strikers? I think signing a contract extension has answered his thoughts on this.
I’m expecting Isidor to push Brian Brobbey all the way for that starting berth, if such a thing exists anymore.
Le Bris will want to pick teams for certain opposition — speed and guile might be more important at times than strength and hold up play.
Isidor and Brobbey up front together, anyone? Now I’m just starting to salivate!

Superb news.
A real boost and an emphatic riposte to anyone peddling rumours that the mercurial Haitian international could leave Sunderland for a fee that — and let’s be honest here — would’ve bordered on insulting. Back in your boxes, folks, and stick your rumours of a cut-price exit where the sun doesn’t shine, because he’s here to stay.
Isidor’s Sunderland career has been one of highs, memorable moments, one unforgettable Christmas lights switch-on and a smattering of frustrations.
An array of spectacular strikes during the 2024/2025 promotion season, a crucial goal against Coventry City in the playoff semi-final first leg, an encouraging start to life in the Premier League with three goals in his first three home games, and then some difficult times as Brian Brobbey established himself as our first choice, with Isidor finding game time difficult to come by thereafter. It’s seldom been dull, to say the least!
Nevertheless, he ended the 2025/2026 campaign on a positive note with strikes against Aston Villa and Everton, before scoring one of the best goals of the tournament at the World Cup. Rumours about his future have swirled all summer but this news gives us clarity and provides Isidor with the security of knowing that he remains a key player at the Stadium of Light.
A different profile of striker to Brobbey — rangier, quicker, the kind of forward that thrives on accurate passes being slid into the corridors between central defenders — Isidor nonetheless has quality in abundance and I’m certain there’ll be plenty of opportunities for him to stamp his mark on games this season.
Ultimately, we need to preserve our attacking threat and add more goals to this side, not take them away, and I couldn’t feel any more strongly about Isidor’s ability to do that. He seems to thrive when he feels the love of the fans and of his teammates, and with a new deal in his back pocket, I fully expect to see him step up and become even more influential for us this season.
Buoyant, exuberant, occasionally frustrating and a player that’s exceptionally easy to like, Isidor will be a key figure for the Lads this season — particularly in Europe — and I’m looking forward to seeing how he fares with a year’s worth of Premier League experience under his belt.

I’m really happy to see the club commit to Isidor, and vice-versa.
Last season was a tough season for him but there was light at the end of the tunnel come the back end with some more-than-impressive cameo appearances as well as a couple of good goals thrown in. As a result, there was always going to be interest in his services, so to see the club act so proactively on this is welcome.
As for what I’d like to see from him this coming season, it’s more of the same, really — that willingness to run off the shoulder of the last man is worth its weight in gold and something entirely different to Brian Brobbey.
Of course this season will see more rotation, so I’d like to see Isidor take his chance with those and force Régis Le Bris to make a tough choice every week when selecting our starting forward.
The only issue I’ve had with Isidor at this level is maybe his willingness at times to use his frame and to be a bit more robust when on the ball, something I’m sure he’ll be aware of himself.
All in all this is great news for someone who has embraced and in return has been embraced by Sunderland…here’s to Wilson Isidor and his goals.
