What is the story about?
Penn State hockey recruit Pierce Mbuyi added to the Nittany Lions’ draft total on Saturday when he was selected 86th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins:
Mbuyi plays for the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, he has accumulated 127 points (61 goals, 66 assists) in 131 regular season games. He committed to Penn State in June of 2025 and is expected to join the Nittany Lions in 2027.
The Penguins were a surprise
playoff team last season, but the franchise is looking to load up its prospect pool as much as possible with the aging core of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang reaching the end of their careers.
Congratulations Pierce and good luck!
