Florida State is in Palo Alto, CA, for tonight’s first-ever matchup in program history against the Stanford Cardinal. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET, which will tie the latest scheduled start for an FSU
football game since matching games at San Diego State in 1973 and 1977. This will be the Seminoles’ first regular-season game in California since a 14-7 win at USC to open the 1997 season.
Both teams are coming off an ACC loss last week. The Seminoles (3-3, 0–3 ACC) were upset at home by the Pitt Panthers, while Stanford (2–4, 1–2 ACC) lost to the SMU Mustangs, 34-10.
After starting the season at 3-0, including a top-10 win over Alabama in Week 1, the Seminoles are still searching for their first ACC win of the season.
FSU’s offense ranks third nationally in total offense (536.5 ypg), fourth in first downs made (160), and fifth in both scoring offense (44.2 ppg) and rushing offense (274.5 ypg). QB Tommy Castellanos leads the nation with an average of 15.87 yards per completion.
Stanford is 2-0 at home this season, scoring 30 points in each of the two victories. The Cardinal is attempting to start a season 3-0 at home for the first time since 2018.
QB Ben Gulbranson has shone at home for the Cardinal this season, completing 64.6% of his passes for 630 yards and three touchdowns in the two home wins.
Wideout CJ Williams has blossomed over the last few weeks, leading the team in receptions (35) and receiving yards (404).
Florida State has 21 rushing touchdowns this season, which is tied for third in FBS. Stanford has allowed just five rushing touchdowns this season, tied for 22nd in FBS.
According to FanDuel, FSU is a 17.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 53.5 points.
