The Golden State Warriors begin a two-game road trip with Sunday night’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. The game will be played at 6:00 PM PT in Portland and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State dropped a competitive game last Friday night, losing 127–120 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Steph Curry led all scorers with
39 points in his first game back after missing five games due to a quad injury.
Unfortunately, Curry’s return wasn’t enough to secure a win, as Minnesota outscored the Warriors 39–29 in the fourth quarter. Former Warrior Donte DiVincenzo played a key role late, knocking down several clutch shots to help seal a game that featured 27 lead changes throughout the night.
What to watch for tonight:
After playing shorthanded without Draymond Green on Friday, the Warriors are expected to get him back for Sunday’s game in Portland. Green’s return should provide a much-needed boost on the defensive end as Golden State struggled to contain the Timberwolves’ frontcourt. Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert, specifically, combined for 51 points in Green’s absence.
The Warriors also kept Pat Spencer, who finished the game with 12 points, in the starting lineup alongside Curry, allowing him to handle the ball while Curry worked off it. Curry has spoken positively about the fit alongside Spencer, a sign the Warriors may continue to lean into that lineup moving forward.
