The Seattle Seahawks will look to defend their Super Bowl crown against the team they defeated en route to the title.
It won’t be easy for the Seahawks to repeat, as they’ll need to outlast the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. We’ll see both teams in action in about 24 hours. Until then, here’s what to expect from a rematch of the Super Bowl.
It’ll look a bit different for the hosts in this one, with Nick Emmanwori out with an injury. Seattle will also be without starter Ty Okada, meaning
a pair of backups will start in the secondary.
New England upgraded their receiving core, perhaps more than any team in the league. A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs take over as Drake Maye’s top targets. Brown is a WR1, no matter how you slice it for any team. Doubs will be a good fit and should thrive playing off Brown.
Tonight, I’d expect Rhamondre Stevenson to get plenty of looks in the passing game underneath. Drake Maye takes what the defense gives him, and the Patriots should have far more success through the air.
What will Sam Darnold look like in his second season as a starter? I think tonight looks good for him, and he might not even rely on Jaxson Smith-Njigba in the same manner as last year. Tonight feels like a Cooper Kupp game, with Rashid Shaeed taking advantage of being defended by the “other” cornerback.
I think we see a high-scoring game, relative to the market. And wouldn’t be surprised to see the Patriots sneak out of here with a victory.
Tonight should give us an idea of what to expect when the 49ers run into the Seahawks
