The Golden State Warriors travel on the road for the first time this preseason as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers. The game will be played at 6:30PM PT in Los Angeles and can be watched on NBA TV.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State rolled out another new starting lineup in Wednesday’s 129–123 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Stephen Curry, Moses Moody, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Al Horford comprised the opening unit, but the results were far from sharp.
Head coach Steve Kerr even admitted afterward that the team didn’t look ready to play, as the Warriors fell behind early. Specifically, they struggled to contain Portland’s perimeter attack as the Blazers shot 12-of-28 on threes in the first half alone.
Golden State’s reserves flipped the script in the second half, igniting an offensive surge that peaked with a 51-point fourth quarter. Rookie LJ Cryer helped lead the comeback with 14 points in the final frame, energizing the Chase Center crowd with his fearless shot-making.
What to watch for tonight:
Several big names will be resting for the Warriors in tonight’s matchup. Curry, Butler, Horford, and Moody will all sit, according to Kerr.
While Green is still expected to play, Golden State will once again need its reserves to shoulder the load. Second-year center Quinten Post, who led the team with 20 points and four threes in 25 minutes against Portland, could be especially important. His ability to stretch the floor as a big man pulls shot-blockers out of the paint which should come in handy with Curry and Butler sitting this one out.
