With flip season upon us, the Michigan Wolverines are working hard to steal recruits from other schools before the 2026 recruiting cycle wraps up. They have already been successful a few times, and more
flips could be coming very soon.
Michigan receiving predictions for Virginia Tech commit
The player to watch right now is 2026 three-star offensive lineman Adrian Hamilton. He committed to Virginia Tech in July, but a couple predictions on 247Sports were recently put in for him to flip his commitment to the Wolverines. 247Sports’ Brian Dohn ($) explained his flip pick.
Virginia Tech is in the midst of another tough season, but after hiring James Franklin, there is some hope in Blacksburg. A lot of commits visited campus last weekend to meet Franklin and see the Hokies take on Miami, but Hamilton was not in attendance.
Not only is Hamilton not visiting Virginia Tech, but he is actually taking an official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend for the game against Ohio State.
Hamilton was thrilled when Michigan extended an offer in October, and that was after he already committed to Virginia Tech.
“I was happy and excited because I’ve been a fan of Michigan for some time now and I’ve always liked their run game and offensive line play as an offensive lineman myself,” he said after securing the offer.
The Wolverines haven’t secured a commitment yet, but it looks like it’s more of a “when, not if” situation.
Carter Meadows reaffirms Michigan commitment
Since it’s flip season, Michigan also has to be weary about other schools taking its commits. One of the best players in the 2026 class is five-star edge rusher Carter Meadows, and he committed to the Wolverines in June. However, it doesn’t sound like he is having any second thoughts.
“I’m 100 percent solid,” Meadows recently told On3’s EJ Holland ($). “Michigan has a culture built on love and the right principles. I feel like I’m home. I’m excited for the future.”
Position coach Lou Esposito hit the road to see Meadows play recently. Another Michigan commit was also there, as three-star edge Tariq Boney was playing against Meadows.
“It was great for (Esposito) to come out here,” Meadows said. “Hopefully, he liked what he saw (laughs). I’m glad he took the time to come watch us play. He loves us, and we love him. I’m excited for the future and the development. He’s a great coach.”
This weekend is obviously a big one, and the Buckeyes recruited Meadows hard before he committed to Michigan. He will be in Ann Arbor for The Game and is expecting the Wolverines to get the job done.
“I’m expecting a win,” Meadows said. “However we get it done, I just want a win. I know the energy is going to be great. It’s going to be a great time.”
