The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Tackles Josh Simmons and Diego Pounds, safety Chamarri Conner, tight end Jared Wiley and defensive ends Jack Pyburn and Tyreke Smith will not play. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been named the third quarterback, meaning he is eligible to enter the game if both Patrick Mahomes and Justin Fields become unavailable.
Simmons had already been ruled out on Friday’s final injury report. Conner was nominally listed as doubtful, but he never seemed likely to play. The Chiefs confirmed early on Sunday that Conner would not be available.
On Saturday, Kansas City elevated Smith and linebacker Cole Christiansen from the practice squad to the active roster. As elevated players, they will automatically be returned to the team’s practice squad after the game. Christiansen is active for the game. Smith being declared inactive may imply the Chiefs had a minor availability concern about one of their defensive ends and wanted an emergency option if needed.
The Dolphins have also released their list of inactives.
Miami will play without running back Jaylen Wright, wide receiver Caleb Douglas, cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr., pass rusher Rob Beal Jr., guard DJ Campbell, and former Chiefs offensive tackle Chu Godrick. Former Missouri Tiger Brady Cook has been designated as the emergency quarterback.
Beal (hamstring) and Douglas (ankle) had already been ruled out. Wright (stinger/foot) drew a doubtful tag on Friday.
The Dolphins have elevated linebacker Liam Anderson defensive end Clelin Ferrell — the No. 4 overall selection of the 2019 NFL Draft — for the matchup. Both will dress for the game.
