Now that Notre Dame’s football season is over and done the work of roster management for nest year really picks up steam. On Monday, it has been reported that quarterback Kenny Minchey will enter the transfer portal.
This shouldn’t
be shocking to anyone as pretty much everyone said this was going to happen since August. Minchey is very much the caliber of quarterback that can start at a number of Power 4 schools, and he should take his time over the next month or two to find the right fit for him and his skill set.
Minchey is from Nashville, and it just so happens that the Vanderbilt Commodores need a new QB for next season. Vanderbilt is an incredibly good school, in the SEC, and Clark Lea is one of the true risers among college football head coaches. So… it seems almost too perfect of a fit.
Wherever Kenny decides to go, we should all wish him the best of luck. He handled the QB competition at Notre Dame with great professionalism and was by all accounts — a fantastic teammate. I really have little doubt of his success elesewhere.
This does open a big hole at the position for Notre Dame moving forward. The scholarship chart below is obviously going to be updated quite a bit over the next few months (and won’t be updated until there are official reports), but after CJ Carr, the Irish will have a redshirt freshman, and a true freshman in the QB room.
