Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Jaguars fans and fans across the country.
Jaguars fans — should the team get a Parker Washington contract extension done before the regular season begins?
Washington doesn’t have a ton of bargaining power now, considering his draft pedigree (sixth round) and career production (under 1,500 yards). That could soon change, though. The fourth-year pro is about to play his first full
season as a starting receiver; a strong start could alter his asking price.
The Jaguars should be eager to lock up Washington before he officially breaks out, but as of this writing, the 2026 NFL regular season is only eight days away.
“That’s not my focus,” Washington said of contract negotiations in early August. “It’s there, and it’s a conversation, but my focus is just coming out here, and I need to make plays for Trevor [Lawrence]. So that’s my mindset, and that’s how I’m going to attack it. I’m not going to step on my agent’s toes. They can have those conversations. I’m just going to come out here and do my job.”
The Jaguars won’t want to break the bank, partly because they already extended WR Jakobi Meyers and probably want to keep OT Anton Harrison around long-term. Maybe they’re getting ready to make a move, though?
