Everton Women have signed England U-23 star Hannah Silcock from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
The exciting centre-back, from Mossley Hill in south Liverpool, becomes Scott Phelan’s side’s ninth summer signing ahead of their second season at the WSL’s most iconic venue, Goodison Park.
Sill only 21, the former Red already boasts an impressive CV, having lifted the WSL2 title while on loan with Birmingham City and the U-23 European Competition with the Young Lionesses last season.
The Scouse native
will face some competition for places on the Blue half of Merseyside, with the return to fitness of Megan Finnigan and the acquisition of Silcock’s fellow England U-23 defender Naomi Layzell on a season-long loan from WSL champions Manchester City.
Silcock’s arrival follows the news of signing No.8; the return of goalkeeper Rylee Foster-Inman from Canadian side Halifax Tides, who returns to L4 following a short spell with the Blues in 2024.
The 28-year-old is a former Canada U-20 international and came through the ranks at West Virginia Mountaineers before signing for fellow WSL outfit Liverpool in January 2020 and will provide Courtney Brosnan with some stiff competition.
Completing a manic few days for Scott Phelan is the departure of stopper Inês Pereira, who has left the Blues to join Deportivo La Coruna on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
Signing from Swiss side Servette in July 2024 before heading out on loan to Primera Division outfit Deportivo, where she would head out on another season-long loan the following year after finding it difficult to claim Everton’s No.1 spot between the sticks.
Happy with Phelan’s transfer business? Do Everton Women need another keeper ahead of the forthcoming campaign?
