The Buffalo Bills have a solid mix of old friends and new faces in the defensive backfield this summer. While some stalwarts of the last decade, like Taron Johnson and Jordan Poyer, are no longer with the club, there is enough continuity where the Bills likely have a very good idea of the players they want on their roster when the team kicks off its season against the Houston Texans in September.
That doesn’t mean that some of the newer players have no chance of making the club, but it doesn’t bode
well for some of the undrafted players fighting for their NFL lives. In today’s installment of “91 players in 91 days,” we discuss one of those undrafted free agents looking to make an impression this summer. _____________________________________________________________________________
Name: Jordan Dunbar
Number: 36
Position: DB
Height/Weight: 6′ 195 lbs.
Age: 24 (25 on 11/30/2026)
Experience/Draft: R; signed with Buffalo following the 2026 NFL Draft
College: Missouri State
Acquired: UDFA signing
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Dunbar’s three-year contract is worth $3.115 million with $15,000 guaranteed. If he makes the 53-man roster, his cap hit for the 2026 season is $890,000. If he’s released, Buffalo will carry a dead cap charge equal to the total guaranteed money on the contract.
2025 Recap: In his sixth year of eligibility, Dunbar had his finest season, notching his first two career interceptions and breaking up a career-high 11 passes in 13 games. He totaled 21 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble, as well. He did not secure an invite to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Missouri State did not publicly release the results of their players’ Pro Day drills, and his drill numbers are not available on NFL Draft Scout. Dunbar went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed with the Bills.
Positional outlook: Dunbar is one of five players listed as a defensive back, with the others being Te’Cory Couch, Sam Franklin, Jordan Hancock, and Kani Walker. Dunbar played cornerback in college, so that’s his most likely spot with the Bills. The other corners on the roster are Maxwell Hairston, Christian Benford, Dee Alford, Toriano Pride Jr., and Davison Igbinosun.
2026 Offseason: Dunbar is healthy and he has participated in off-season work to date.
2026 Season outlook: Dunbar’s chances of making the final roster are slim given his advanced age and lack of experience against top-end NCAA competition. However, a strong camp could turn itself into some big opportunities in preseason games, which could then snowball into a chance at making the team as one of the last defensive backs kept. Especially if he’s able to show prowess on special teams, you never know when a sleeper will come out of the woodwork.
Dunbar is a deep, deep sleeper, however, as the Bills are likely to keep four players for sure from that CB group listed above in Alford, Benford, Igbinosun, and Hairston. Hancock and Franklin are basically locks, as well, from that DB group, and we haven’t even started talking about safeties yet. It’s going to take a weird set of circumstances–think injuries–combined with lights-out play for Dunbar to have any shot at the 53. He’s likely fighting for a practice-squad spot.
