Saint Mary’s remained in the top spot for a second straight week in the men’s Other Top 25. San Diego State and Utah State held steady at two and three. Saint Louis, Liberty, George Mason, VCU, Dayton
and Akron all remained in the top 10.
The Gaels are the top team in the country in BartTorvik over the last week. SMC sits 29th overall for the season.
However, previous No. 4 Memphis dropped to 15th. The Tigers dropped to 1-2 on the season with a second consecutive loss. Penny Hardaway’s squad fell at Ole Miss 83-77on Tuesday. It then suffered a 92-78 loss at home against UNLV. Memphis is now 76th in KenPom. Over the last seven days, the Tigers rank 178th in Torvik.
Three teams saw jumps of at least six spots. Santa Clara climbed from No. 15 to No. 8. South Florida moved from a tie for 20 to 14th. UT Martin is up from No. 25 to No. 16.
The Broncos, now 4-0, has wins over McNeese State, Xavier on the road and Nevada. Herb Sendek’s team is 70th in KenPom, including ranking 41st in adjusted offensive efficiency. The wins over Xavier and Nevada have Santa Clara 15th in Torvik over the last week.
The Bulls are 3-1 and knocked off Coppin St. 100-50 and Kennesaw St. 108-89 over the last week. USF ranked 20th in Torvik during the last seven days.
The Skyhawks are undefeated this year at 3-0. They defeated Bradley in their lone game this week. UT Martin is top 65 in effective field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage defense, according to Torvik. It is 17th nationally in effective field goal percentage.
