Dan Campbell was back in front of the podium on Monday prior to the Detroit Lions’ fifth day of training camp, and that meant a bunch of injury updates that have been lingering for a few days.
Here’s the latest injury news you need to know.
RT Blake Miller
On Sunday, Miller appeared to be limited to only individual drills. Thankfully, Campbell confirmed that was just being precautionary, and Miller is expected to be back into the full lineup on Monday.
“He’ll roll today. We don’t anticipate any issues,” Campbell said.
“He wanted to do more (Sunday). We kinda held him back.”
EDGE Derrick Moore
The news wasn’t as good for Lions second-round pick Derrick Moore, who left Sunday’s injury with a groin injury. Campbell said he is expected to miss about 7-10 days with a minor strain. Obviously, in the long-term, that’s not a big deal for any player to miss a couple weeks of practice, but this is a valuable time of year for a rookie like Moore.
“It’s unfortunate for all of the rookies,” Campbell said. “These reps are valuable. You miss valuable time, but it also is what it is.”
LB Jimmy Rolder
Campbell confirmed earlier reports that Rolder will be out “for a while” with a hamstring injury. That said, the Lions coach made sure to reiterate that it’s not a season-ending injury for Detroit’s fourth-round pick.
“It’s a little unfortunate, but at the same time, it’s not a season-ender,” Campbell said. “So that’s good news.”
TE Miles Kitselman
The Lions undrafted rookie tight end left Sunday’s practice with a leg injury and will also be out “a while.” For someone already on the roster bubble, this is a tough blow to his first season.
