Our Week 7 surveys found 96% of Carolina Panthers fans confident in the current direction of the franchise. 82% of y’all were predicting a winning season. It’s amazing how one truly awful game can change so much of what we think about our favorite team. That’s just what happened during and after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers completely dismantled every positive narrative that Panthers fans were spinning and buying. A win tonight against the Green Bay Packers would go along way towards recovering some
of that lost goodwill, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We wouldn’t want to be too much like the Panthers on Sunday.
Unlike what many of the coaches and players repeated after the game, this is not something that just needs to be flushed away. You don’t lose half of your fanbase during one game and say “oh well.” Both the game and the reactions have left a sour taste that will require time to get over.
It’s not out of line of what was expected entering this season. Consistency is all most of us have been asking for since the Ron Rivera days. Instead, we get to follow high highs with incredibly low lows. I’ll keep watching, but I won’t start believing until we see sustained change. How about you?
