Lead Rumor: WWE already giving up on Big Cass?
This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a surprise finish in one of the few matches on the show — Dragon Lee stacking up Big Cass for a clean pinfall victory. Considering how much they hyped Cass making his return to the company, and promoted him as a monster here to “stack bodies,” it was noteworthy that he’s already losing like this on television to someone at Lee’s level on the card.
Dave Meltzer noticed and speculated on Wrestling Observer
Radio that such a loss would never happen if they truly had plans for him. He even went so far as to say WWE has “given up on him as a single.”
When rumors and reports were first getting around that Cass was being brought back, he was attached to old partner Enzo Amore. Perhaps that’s what is driving some of this speculation.
Maybe Cass needs his old friend?
We shall see. For now, it’s not looking good for the big fella.
Other rumors floating around
- According to Bryan Alvarez, WWE did indeed consider not airing Worlds Collide up against the Dynamite tribute show to Pac as originally planned but it appears to be going ahead anyway. Either way, apparently no one in the company seems to agree on what they should do.
- TNA will be paying tribute to Pac on this Thursday’s episode of Impact on AMC, even though they already have the show shot and produced. That’s the word from PW Insider, who say they are “working to add a tribute graphic and other elements to the show in order to pay tribute” to Satterley.
- On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Steven Borden after he was knocked out at All Out. “He’s okay. I didn’t hear if he flew home but I was told that he was going to be able to fly home,” he said.
- In a Fightful Select Answers post, Sean Ross Sapp shared that his AEW sources told him Borden was excited to do the dueling coast-to-coast spot with Kevin Knight. There was obviously a lot of concern for Borden, including from Knight and others in the match, but that’s been alleviated by test results and other positive signs. Sapp’s heard that if everything keeps going well health-wise, Sting’s son will be back in the ring within a few weeks.
- Fightful notes that there are ongoing talks between Kairi Sane and Stardom, among others, but she has yet to sign anywhere and definitely not with AEW just yet.
