The Athletic’s Matt Barrows tweeted that the San Francisco 49ers intend to sign tight end Josiah Deguara. He was drafted in the third round of the 2020 draft by the Green Bay Packers. Deguara has two seasons in the NFL where he had double-digit receptions, with the most recent one coming in 2022. He spent 2025 with the Arizona Cardinals.
Deguara, listed at 6’2″, 238 pounds, is built more like a wide receiver. As far as where he ran routes in Arizona last season, the Cardinals had him run 25 routes from
the tight end alignment, 15 from the slot, and 14 out wide as a receiver.
Looking back at his NFL Combine numbers, Deguara’s height, weight, arm length, and hand size were all in the single percentiles. He’s undersized and ran a 4.72 40-yard dash. The one trait Deguara has working in his favor is the bench press. He put up 25 reps.
The 49ers won’t have George Kittle for the early part of training camp — at the very least, and after a few practices, they’ve realized they need another body at the position during practices.
