Javonte Williams had a career performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the first time since 2016 that a Dallas Cowboys running back ran for more than 150 yards in a single game. That caught the attention of the Cowboys owner, who believes balance to the offense is a winning formula moving forward.
Jerry Jones on Cowboys’ run game, potential deadline moves, Troy Aikman & more – Tommy Yarrish, DallasCowboys.com
If Dallas can run the ball like they did on Monday, they should be able to go on a run over the next few weeks.
Jones said that the Cowboys offense is one that is run-first, because it allows different
aspects of the playbook to open up if they have success.
“That lets us have the opportunity to get Dak under center a lot more, and that’s a big key too,” Jones said. “That presents a different defensive challenge for the opponent if he can get under center a lot. We saw that happen acceptably well.”
Cowboys’ Brian Schottenheimer denies media criticism affected his demeanor vs. Eagles – Joseph Hoyt, Dallas Morning News
The Cowboys head coach was noticeably out of character during his post-game press conference.
Schottenheimer was asked about it again Tuesday and whether there was something said or written in the media that prompted his demeanor.
“No, I’ll be honest. I really do a good job of blocking you guys out,” Schottenheimer said. “I think it’s a big game for us. We’re motivated as a football team. I’m motivated as a head coach to get our guys playing to the standard that I know they’re capable of playing. Intense game against a real rival. But no, at the end of the day, in this business you get paid to deal with the criticism and things that come with the job.”

Exclusive: Cowboys CB Joey Porter Jr. takes in ‘surreal’ start to Dallas tenure – Nick Harris, Fort Worth Star Telegram
Joey Porter Jr. is just happy to be in Dallas, and the feeling is certainly mutual.
“It’s just so unreal, so surreal,” Porter said to the Star-Telegram while looking at the room. “I can’t even really explain it. Sometimes it’s hard for me to be in the moment and realize what’s all going on because everything is moving so fast. I’m happy where I’m at. I’m happy where this team is headed.”
Jerry Jones insists Troy Aikman holding significant role with Cowboys is ‘very possible’ – Brandon Contes, Awful Announcing
Could the Hall of Fame quarterback go from the booth to the Cowboys front office?
Shariff asked Jones a direct question: whether he would ever bring Aikman in for a “major significant role with the Cowboys” if he were interested.
“Yes, I could and would,” Jones confirmed. “It’s that simple, because I do think that much of him, with his basic command and understanding and knowledge of NFL football. He certainly is qualified to do any of the things that have been mentioned, and I think he’s outstanding at what he focuses on right now, and that’s giving the story and narration of football games.
5 things to know about the Arizona Cardinals ahead of Week 8 matchup with Dallas Cowboys – Abraham Nudelstejer, Dallas Morning News
The Cowboys’ rush defense could struggle if Jeremiyah Love returns for Sunday’s game.
Rushing offense
The Cardinals have struggled to move the chains on the ground. They rank 22nd in the league with 622 rushing yards. Jeremiyah Love has carried much of the load, with 67 carries for 272 yards, an average of 3.7 yards per carry. Love has not played in Arizona’s past two games because of an ankle injury. Tyler Allgeier and Bam Knight have handled the lead-back duties in his absence.
