The Milwaukee Bucks are moving the start time for their regular-season home opener on October 23 against the Chicago Bulls from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. local time as the Milwaukee Brewers prepare to host Game 1 of the 2026 World Series the same night. The news was announced on the team’s X account Friday morning:
We’re proud to move our home opener from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. on 10/23 in celebration of the @Brewers hosting Game 1 of the World Series. https://t.co/obn3plfapn

Prior to the Bucks winning the NBA Finals
in 2021, Milwaukee had not seen a professional sports team win a title since the Bucks won the championship in 1971. The Milwaukee Brewers, who were the Seattle Pilots for one season in 1969 before moving to Milwaukee and becoming the Brewers in 1970, won their first pennant in the American League in 1982, when they fell to the Cardinals in seven games. The Brewers, who moved from the American League to the National League in 1998, have since become just the second team to win a pennant in both leagues. Now, they’re searching for the franchise’s first-ever World Series title.
For Milwaukee sports fans, this has been an incredible era of both Bucks basketball and Brewers baseball. On a personal note, slogging through some tough years as a fan has certainly given me an undying optimism about both teams where I tend to look at the bright side of the roster and can think, maybe this is their year after all. Whether hope springs eternal or delusions have already set in after one too many beers, the Brewers find themselves just four wins away from joining the Bucks in being able to raise a banner this decade.
Cheers, Milwaukee—let’s get it!
