The No. 3 seed Texas Longhorns (22-2, 13-2) are set to collide in the semifinals of the 2025 SEC Volleyball Tournament against the No. 2 seed Texas A&M Aggies (23-3, 14-1). The other two semifinalists in the tournament are the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats and the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers.
After two byes in the first two rounds, Texas A&M swept the No. 15 seed Vanderbilt Commodores in the quarterfinals. The Aggies are first in the SEC in opponent hitting percentage at .171 and third in hitting percentage at .299,
led by senior middle blocker Ifenna Cos-Okpalla, who leads the conference in hitting percentage at .440. Cos-Okpalla is also first in blocks with 150, averaging 1.65 blocks per set, and sits fifth in service aces, averaging .35 per set in the SEC. Senior setter Maddie Waak leads the SEC in assists, averaging 11.54 per set with 1,050 this season. Senior opposite hitter Logan Lednicky holds the 10th slot in the SEC in points per set (4.54), while senior libero Ava Underwood holds the back line down with 256 digs. A&M gets help from freshman libero Addi Applegate (1.52 digs per set) and sophomore outside hitter Kyndal Stowers (second on the team in kills per set at 3.31).
In the SEC quarterfinal, Texas swept Ole Miss in the 12th three-set victory for the Longhorns this season. The previous matchup between the Longhorns and Aggies was more tightly contested as Texas A&M ended the undefeated season for Texas in College Station earlier this month with a five-set win. Cos-Okpalla set her career high with 15 kills in that match as Stowers also shined in attack with a season-high 22 kills. Although the Horns ultimately outhit the Aggies, .329 to .310, and both teams scored the same number of points, A&M came through in the big moments and had a notable 14-4 advantage in blocks, exposing the contrast between the two team’s ability to control the net defensively.
First serve is at 7:30 p.m. central at the Enmarket Arena on SEC Network+.
