The Portland Fire head back to the nation’s capital this evening for their second battle of the season with the Washington Mystics.
The first game between the teams is a leading candidate for the game of the year in the WNBA. The Mystics prevailed in a 124-123 quadruple-overtime thriller in Washington on June 28th. Fire Guard Carla Leite scored a career-high 32 points in that game, but missed a potential game-winning floater in the closing seconds of the fourth overtime.
Starting with that contest,
the Mystics (12-10) have won four of their past five games behind strong play from All-Stars Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen. The Fire (10-14) have dropped five of their past seven.
