When a pitcher throws a complete game shutout, you tend to have a little hyperbole. Cristopher Sanchez did that last night, which is making people start to take more notice about his season. He didn’t have his great stuff early in the season and still got by. Now, he has his great stuff and he looks every bit the part.
So, is he currently the best pitcher in the NL?
There are other pitchers striving to take that mantle, including one that is starting today in Paul Skenes. Shohei Ohtani has apparently
decided to try and win the award this season and there is still Ohtani’s teammate in Yoshinobu Yamamoto. You could even see Zack Wheeler sneaking into the conversation later this season. But is it already Sanchez? Has he done enough already to be considered the best?
