Former Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has told Hansi Flick he won’t win the Champions League playing his infamous high line with the Catalan giants.
Flick’s side were caught out defensively again in Europe’s premier club competition on Wednesday night when Goncalo Ramos bagged a late winner.
Henry highlighted the problems he sees with Flick’s tactics after the game and said the high line will continue to prove costly against the best teams in the world.
“You can not play in the Champions League with
that high line. I’m sorry. When you play against good teams you are going to get exposed. And that’s exactly what happened,” he said on CBS Sports.
“Any well timed run you go though on goal, every single time. They don’t want to change it, and I understand sometime coaches can be stubborn, but it can be costly in big games.”
Flick has previously suggested he’s not interested in changing his high line but will know his team have to improve if they are to go all the way in Europe this season.
