UFC 332 features a whopping 28 fighters in action, but one has already had a stumble at the scale.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for Saturday’s event at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, lightweight Esteban Ribovics was the lone fighter to miss weight, coming in at 156.5 pounds (0.5 pounds over the limit for a non-title bout) for his main card bout against King Green, who successfully hit the mark at 155.5.
Shortly after Ribovics weighed in, it was announced that Green vs. Ribovics will proceed at a catchweight
with Ribovics forfeiting 20 percent of his purse as penalty.
Headliners Natalia Silva and Wang Cong both successfully made weight without issue for their vacant 125-pound title bout. Wang (124.5) was the first fighter to step to the scale, with Silva (125) following shortly after. The fighters have the chance to claim the title vacated by long-reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko, who is currently sidelined as she recovers from injuries.
In the bantamweight co-main event, two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo faces top prospect Payton Talbott. Both men successfully made weight, with Figueiredo coming in at 135 pounds and Talbott at 135.5.
