That is a real, factual sentence that barely begins to describe the crisis that has hit Baltimore. Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley were both placed on injured reserve on Thursday, sidelining them until at least Week 14. It’s possible that neither returns this season.
Baltimore scrambled to add quarterback help
this week, first signing Austin Reed and Kedon Slovis before making plans to acquire Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals. Brissett figures to take over in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but first, the Ravens must get past a hot Jaguars team with Fagnano under center. Honestly, simply getting out of the game without additional injuries could be considered a success for a short week. The Ravens would then have 10 days to regroup before hosting the Chargers for their second straight primetime game.
But this is the National Football League, where the phrase Any Given Sunday looms even larger in unpredictable, often-ugly Thursday night games after a short week. Fagnano outdueling Trevor Lawrence seems far-fetched, but some help on defense and special teams could give the Ravens just enough juice to keep it interesting.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video. Join Baltimore Beatdown’s discussion about the Ravens’ matchup with the Jaguars on browser, mobile, or SB Nation’s new app!
