The Cleveland Cavaliers put together one of their most complete games of the season as they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 133-107.
The stats in the table below are from Cleaning the Glass.
Now, let’s dive
into the numbers.
- Donovan Mitchell scored 35 points on 11-22 shooting. The Cavs are now 9-1 when he puts up 35 or more points in a game this season.
- Twenty of Mitchell’s points came in the third quarter. That’s the third most he’s scored in a quarter this season. He put up 24 fourth-quarter points in their early December win over the Washington Wizards and 21 third-quarter points in the Christmas Day loss to the New York Knicks.
- Mitchell went 6-7 on shots in the paint. His ability to get downhill opened up the outside shot as well, as he went 5-12 from three.
- Mitchell’s nine assists are the most he’s had in a game this season. He’s finished with eight assists seven times so far this season. The Cavs are now 4-5 when Mitchell has eight or more assists.
- Eight Cavaliers had three or more assists: Mitchell (9), Darius Garland (7), Evan Mobley (6), De’Andre Hunter (4), Lonzo Ball (4), Jaylon Tyson (3), Nae’Qwan Tomlin (3), and Craig Porter Jr. (3)
- The Cavaliers had a season-high 41 assists. They’re now 14-4 when they have 30 or more helpers. I stole this stat from Real Cavs Fans.
- Only nine of the Cavs’ 50 field-goal makes were unassisted.
- Cleveland went 20-46 (43.5%) from three. They’re now 9-4 when they connect on 40% or more of their triples.
- Five Cavaliers hit three or more threes: Mitchell (5), Tyson (3), Hunter (3), Garland (3), and Ball (3). Each of these players also had three or more assists.
- The Cavs outscored the 76ers 11-2 on second-chance points in the first quarter. Cleveland won the first quarter by 15 points to set the tempo for the game as a whole. Their ability to grab eight offensive rebounds, which turned into 11 points, helped them put their imprint on the game early.
- Each starter grabbed an offensive rebound. Tyson led the team with three offensive boards.
- The 76ers completed just 54.2% (12th percentile) of their shots in the restricted area. The Cavs did an excellent job of contesting shots at the rim. You’re going to have a good defense if you defend the basket as well as Cleveland did on Wednesday.
- The Cavs outscored the Sixers 24-17 on fastbreak points. The Cavs did a good job in transition on both ends of the floor. They were in the 84th percentile on offense in running off of defensive rebounds, while the Sixers were in the 8th percentile of doing so.
- Cleveland finished the game with six players in double-figures scoring: Mitchell (35), Garland (20), Mobley (17), Hunter (17), Jarrett Allen (12), and Tyson (10).
- The Cavs forced Joel Embiid into six turnovers. This was only the third time this season Embiid has had over five turnovers in a game. Allen deserves a lot of credit for handling the matchup on Embiid. The Cavs won the 25 minutes Embiid was on the court by 18 points.
- Mobley had four blocks. Unsurprisingly, the Cavs had a 91.7 defensive rating when he was on the floor. This was the sixth time this season Mobley has recorded four or more blocks in a game. The Cavs are 4-2 when Mobley does so.
