A lot of silly things happened in the Guardians game today, resulting in them being swept by the Braves. But, hey, they only lost 5-4 today.
Stupid Thing #1 – Angel Martinez is a bad second baseman and we can’t give José and Gabriel Arias or Rocchio both the same day off or it will force him into a position where can make two crucial errors.
Stupid Thing #2 – Let me share a GameDay description to you: “Michael Harris singles on a pop-up to first baseman Kyle Manzardo.”
Stupid Thing #3 – Jose Ramirez
trying to be a hero by swinging at pitches he knows are outside the zone. This doesn’t help, you demi-god. Please, take those walks and trust the guys around you more.
Stupid Thing #4 – Jurickson Profar takes roids and hit a STUPID two-run homer off of one foot and with one arm.
Stupid Thing #5 – 103 mph OUT off the bat of Manzardo when they so desperately needed a hit.
THE MOST STUPID THING OF ALL – Steven Kwan trying to BUNT on the first pitch after the reliever had walked two straight Guardians hitters in the 8th and popping out. This was patently absurd and made me slightly glad they lost.
Vogt confirmed that Kwan bunted on his own and said he trusts him to make that decision whenever he thinks it is best. Tito would say the same thing every time he was asked about Lindor’s insane attempts at bunting. It is way past time for the front office and manager to tell players “Do not do anything remotely resembling a sacrifice bunt until we call for it.”
This isn’t a good team but I hope they get back to playing good baseball because this one made me GRUMPY. The Diamondbacks are another team much better than their record and the Guardians are headed there next. Time to channel those Mets and Astros series, boys.
