Akron’s offense was nonexistent on Sunday, scoring a whopping one run on a combined nine hits in 14 innings, none of them for extra bases.
Alex Mooney and Juan Benjamin both went 2-for-3 in game one. Jake Fox went 1-for-2 with a walk in game two.
Starting pitcher Caden Favors allowed five runs (four earned) in 4.1 innings in game one to take the loss.
Dylan DeLucia was the tough-luck loser in game two, allowing one run on four hits in 5.0 solid innings. He struck out four and walked one.

Captains improve to 23-21
Don’t look now,
but the Lake County bats are seriously heating up.
Jace LaViolette had another impressive game, going 2-for-3 with his eighth home run, a hit by pitch and a walk.
Aaron Walton also continues to dominate, going 3-for-5 with his ninth home run, a double and a stolen base.
Bennett Thompson and Maick Collado both went 2-for-4 while Nolan Schubart went 1-for-3 with two walks and Luke Hill doubled and walked. Dean Curley walked three times.
Starting pitcher Rafe Schlesinger had the best performance of his career, tossing 5.0 shutout frames on four hits. He struck out nine batters and walked one.
Logan McGuire, Xavier Hernandez and Cam Schuelke combined to finish off the shutout. Schuelke has a nearly spotless ERA of 0.48 on the season.

Robert Arias doubled while Jhorvic Abreus walked twice and Victor Izturis went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Starting pitcher Chase Mobley’s struggles continued, allowing seven runs on three hits in 2.2 innings. He walked a whopping six batters and struck out three. I’m not sure how much longer he’ll get opportunities at full-season ball before he’s sent back to Arizona to work on his mechanics.
